Regulations Governing the Appointment of Clinical Faculty

Article 1
To enhance pharmaceutical education and strengthen the quality of clinical teaching and research in pursuit of excellence, the Department of Pharmacy and the Institute of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Medicine, National Cheng Kung University (hereinafter referred to as “the Department/Institute”), hereby establish these Regulations in accordance with Article 8 of the Regulations Governing the Appointment of Clinical Faculty, College of Medicine, National Cheng Kung University.
Article 2
Full-time pharmaceutical personnel of the affiliated hospital of this College and its branch hospitals who concurrently undertake clinical teaching duties for the Department/Institute, and who, upon review and approval by the Department/Institute, the College, and the University Faculty Evaluation Committees, obtain the teacher qualification prescribed by the Ministry of Education, shall be reappointed as clinical faculty of the Department/Institute.
Article 3
Clinical faculty of the Department/Institute are classified into four ranks: Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, and Lecturer. The criteria and procedures for appointment and promotion review, teaching load, and faculty evaluation of clinical faculty shall be governed by the same regulations applicable to full-time faculty of the Department/Institute.
Article 4
The calculation of years of service for promotion of clinical faculty shall be the same as that for full-time faculty.
Article 5
Clinical faculty shall not be included in the quota of full-time faculty positions of the Department/Institute and shall not receive hourly remuneration for part-time teaching.
Article 6
In addition to undertaking medical services and responsibilities in teaching and research, clinical faculty may, as necessitated by actual needs, concurrently serve as administrative officers of the College of Medicine.
Article 7
For public hospitals approved by the College Affairs Meeting for industry–academia cooperation, where the hospital superintendent is concurrently appointed from among the College’s professors and entrusted with operational authority and responsibility, full-time pharmaceutical personnel whose teaching, research, and service meet the College’s promotion regulations may be appointed as part-time faculty in accordance with these Regulations.
Article 8
These Regulations shall take effect upon approval by the Department/Institute Affairs Meeting and the College Affairs Meeting, and after being submitted to and ratified by the University Faculty Evaluation Committee. The same procedure shall apply to any amendments.
